Saturday Challenge...Anything Goes!

Hello, it's the first Saturday of the month...can you believe it's November already!!!...so this weeks challenge at Catch The Bug is Anything Goes

For my card today, I used My Little Sock Monkey-front from Bugaboo Stamps. I also used one of my favorite techniques to add the look of texture to the monkey, which you can see better in the photo below. First I coloured him with copics using E44, E43, E42 for the darker parts. E51 & E50 for the cream parts and R27 & R17 for the red. Then I got out my Linen background stamp and sprayed it with rubbing alcohol (I bought it in a spray bottle at the $ store), dab off the extra and stamp. If you try it, just remember to only colour in the parts you want the texture in, or the whole thing will be textured.

I also used this weeks Freshly Made Sketch FMS211

FMS204, She's Shopkinz Crazy!!!

Hello, I made this card for my Niece's Birthday. Apparently the latest craze is Shopkinz, tiny little characters of food and household items with cute little faces! So since that is what her gift is, I decided to make a card to go along with the theme.

I also used this weeks Freshly Made Sketch FMS204.

The doughnut was made with circle dies and circle punches. For the pink icing part, it was a circle then I trimmed the edge by hand to give it a less perfect look! I used SU Sprinkles of life to stamp the sprinkles in pixie pink and tempting turquoise. The base of the doughnut is creamy caramel and the feet were made with the ends of a flouish punch.

For the cupcake, I used the SU Create a cupcake set and stamped the base in daffodil delight onto white. The hands and feet were punched from daffodil delight cardstock with a tear drop shaped punch.  For the cute little faces, I used a set from Your Next Stamp.

The card base is pixie pink, with a layer of white embossed with the Seeing Spots embossing folder. The designer paper is from My Minds Eye-happy day.

ABC, Hunky Post-it Note Holder

Hello, it's Anything But A Card day at Catch The Bug, and today I've made a Post-it Note holder! My Daughter Olivia is starting Grade 10 this year and she loves Thor so I've made her this Hunky Post-it note holder for her desk!

I used Thor Superhero from Bugaboo Stamps, and coloured him with copics. I couldn't find a tutorial for making the box, so I made it myself. The post-it notes are 3"x3" so here's how I made it...

Cut 2 pieces of black cardstock 6.75" x 2.75" with the long side along the top of your score tray score at 3 1/8" and 6.25" this will leave you 1/2" at the end to glue to the other piece. Then score both pieces at 1.5" down the length. Then snip the folds on the 1.25" side up to the score line as shown.

Glue the two pieces together, fold in the flaps and glue in place (there will be a hole in the middle)

Cut 2 pieces 3"x3", glue one down on the inside and glue one onto the bottom...this will firm up the bottom and cover the hole.
The piece around the outside is going grey sponged with basic grey and embossed with Darice - crackle embossing folder then I ran an encore silver ink pad over it. I did the same with the backing piece behind the image, I like the way it looks like worn hammered metal!
I think I might make myself one of these, maybe with the adorable Kitties from Bugaboo Stamps
