RILEY2611, Decorated Envelope!

Hi Everyone, I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! I'm still recovering from the hectic pre-Christmas preparations! lol

It's time for a Challenge from Riley and Company, and this weeks Hostess is the very talented Cindy! She's challenging us to decorate our envelope to match our card!

I used the new Elf Riley, just released in the Riley Winter 2011 theme. He makes such a cute Elf!

I coloured Elf Riley with copics, and added silver with a copic atyou spica pen to his buckle and bell. I also added crystal effects to the candy cane.

For the envelope, on the front I cut out 2 candy canes from designer paper and glued them on.
This photo shows the back of the envelope, I added some of the designer paper to the flap to match the card, super easy!

Please join us in our challenge and upload your card with envelope to the Riley and Company Bog. If you upload to forums, please use the keyword RILEY2611.

RILEY2511, December Holiday Theme!

Hello, this weeks Riley and Company Challenge RILEY2511, is Hosted by Joy and she's challenging us to make something with the December holiday theme in mind!

This is a Secret Box, with a Grinch theme that I will be giving as a gift, I'm making 3 for the Grinch lovers in my life!

I coloured Riley as the Grinch with copics and added glitter to the fur on his outfit.
Here you can see the little box shelves, lots of room to add candy of presents!
I wanted to include some Grinch earrings, but was having trouble finding any in the stores, so I did the next best thing, and made my own!

I used white skrinky dink, and coloured using a sharpie for the red and prisma colour pencils for the rest. If you want to try this, just remember to make a hole for the hardware before you skrink it. They shrunk up beautifully and then all I had to do was add the earring hooks!

Make sure to check out what the others Designers have created for this challenge, you can find links to their Blogs on the right hand sidebar!

Please join us in our challenge and upload your creation to the Riley and Company Blog. If you upload to any forums, please use the keyword RILEY2511.

Punch Art, Kards For Kids!

Hello, well I recently was came across this wonderful cause, run by Bela, and because it it very close to home I couldn't resist joining in! Bela is currently running a card drive to collect holiday/Christmas cards for the kids at Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital. So if you have some extra cards this might be a great destination!

My Hubby was a patient at TO Sick Kids Hospital when he was young, so it is a pleasure for me to send some Christmas Cheer!

The card above was inspired by the great hobby horses made with the punch stocking tag, but I changed it slightly to be a reindeer!

This is pretty simple, The body and ear are crumb cake, the antlers were made with the sizzix snowflakes #2 die, in early espresso. The eyes and nose were made with circles from the owl & cupcake punches. I love the SU glimmer paper so I used that for the nose & cuff. The twine is also from SU.

The card base is real red, with white embossed with the snow dots EF and the bottom is frostwood lodge dp. Then I finished it off with some taffeta ribbon, one of my favorite things!
Now this cutie is a total case from Artchick, when I saw him, I knew I had to make some, he's so adorable! I did everything the same, except...
I added arms with one of the hearts from the heart punch,
his hands were made with the large circle from the owl punch and I cut a notch for the finger. These ideas were taken from Lynn Pratt's people here!
The heart was punched from glimmer paper with a little EK punch
He's so cute, he's sure to bring a smile! The card is real red, with a layer of wild wasabi and then white embossed with the nothern flurry EF. The elf was made with blush blossom, wild wasabi, and wild wasabi dp.

Have a Great Day!

FMS13, Pink Poinsettias!

Hello again, I made this for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge FMS13, I'm just skidding in under the wire, there will be a new sketch on Wednesday!

This was a fairly simple card, and again my lighting is off! The colours are pretty in pink, white and gold.

I used the Hand-Penned Holidays set, and embossed in gold.

The pink band is embossed with the victoria embossing folder.

I'm patiently waiting for the arrival of my Spellbinders Poinsettia dies, so in the mean time, I used the SU 3 flower punch. I punched the 5 point flower from a scrap of pretty in pink that I had already spritzed with gold smooch spritz. I popped these up on dimensionals and there you go!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

MMTPT174, Harry Potter Bookmarks!

Hello, this is my card/bookmark holder for Hunter. This weeks Teapot Tuesday Challenge MMTPT174, is a Harry Potter theme, and what Harry Potter would see through his glasses! This weeks Destination Station is to Hunter who turned 12 on December 1st! I know I'm late, but this can be a belated surprise!

The front looks like a normal card, I made the balloons using a stamp from the Sock Monkey set. The sentiment was computer generated and I made the tag with the designer label die from CDS.
All of the images are from Bugaboo Stamps. I bought these awhile back because all my girls, including myself, are Harry Potter fans!

There are 7 images, perfect for bookmarks for all 7 books. All the images were coloured with copics. I added some crystal effects to Harry & Dumbledore's glasses and dazzling diamonds & crystal affects to Dumbledore's crystal ball!
These were so fun to colour!
The finished size of the accordian tag/bookmark holder is 5.25" tall and each pocket is 3.5" wide.

To make this, I started with a piece of card stock 7.25" x 11" this will make 3 pockets, plus .5" tab to attach it to the second piece.

The second piece was 7.25" x 7"

With the 7.25" side along the top of the score pal, score at 2" on both pieces.

Then score at 3.5", 7", & 10.5" on the larger piece. and 3.5" on the smaller piece.

If you'd like to see a picture tutorial, just let me know.

I used SU dp to decorate and was inspired by the multi colours on the dust covers of the original books!

I'm also entering this in this weeks Catch The Bug Challenge, Anything Goes!

Have a Great Weekend!
Laurie
