RILEY2510, News Years!

Hello, sorry I'm late with this, I completely lost track of time and committments with the Christmas rush!

Today's Riley and Company Challenge is Hosted by Frances, and she's challenging us to be inspired by a New Years resolution!

For my New Years Resolution, I'm hoping for brighter skies ahead and I plan to walk/exercise more!

I used the Hiking Riley for my card, and I love that this could be for male or female. I also used today's colour challenge at SCS, CC303, old navy delight!

I coloured Riley with copics, and then masked him and then used a straight edge piece of paper to sponge in some sun rays.

The card is old olive, with a layer of navy dp. I used die-namics to make the clouds and sun, and a MS punch to make the vine.

Please join us in our challenge, and upload your creation to the Riley and Company Blog!

Have a Great Day,
Laurie

TLC305, Ribbon Bookmark!

Hello, my mojo is slowly coming back after the holiday! I was inspired by today's Technique lovers challenge TLC305, because it seemed simple enough and it makes a nice little gift!

I used the 'Stinky Situation' set from Mark's Finest Papers. The porcupine and words were stamped with memento rich cocoa. I used nesties to cut them out and backed them with the scallop version in riding hood red.

Before matting them, I covered the images with glass beads. As it turns out it wasn't exactly the feel I was looking for, but you don't know til ya try!!!

TSMONDAY, Recycle it!

Hello, Hope Everyone had a great Christmas! I'm posting the Totally Stampalicious Monday Challenge early so I can also remind you about the BOXING DAY SALE...Everything in the Store is 15% off til Midnight Tonight!

This weeks Totally Stampalicious Monday Challenge is to recycle something! I used an empty ribbon spool that was on my desk, and a paper bag!

I used the Bugaboo Image, Attitude Ruby now available in stamp form at Totally Stampalicious. The lid and bottom were made with a circle scallop nestie and baja breeze cardstock. I covered the side of the spool with the paper bag, which I realized later didn;t really make it look much different!!!

For the top, I covered a cardstock circle with the paper bag and stamped on Ruby. Then I stamped another ruby onto white cardstock & coloured her with copics, cut her out, and glued in place on the top.

Here's a photo of the side. I thought this would make a cute little container for some chocolate covered coffee beans, or whatever little treat you like!

Please join us in our challenge, I'm sure everyone has lots of recycle this week! Just make something and upload it to Mr. Linky on the Totally Stampalicious Blog!

Have a Great Day!

Speedy's Friends #34, Mustard, Blue & Green!

Hello, it's time for another challenge from Speedy The Cat's Friends! This challenge is hosted by Harriet, and she's challenging us to use mustard, blue & green!

Please join us in the challenge and upload your creation to the Mark's Finest Papers Blog. There is a FREE stamp set drawn for every 50 entries. You don't have to use MFP stamps, but if you do your name will be entered twice!
For my sample today, I used the Autumn Fun set. It's new to me, and I was really wanting to get it inky! The squirrel stamps so beautifully, with such great detail. I stamped the squirrel with memento rich cocoa onto white. Then I coloured him in lightly with some copics. I cut him out, but thought the colours looked a little dull, so I decided to emboss him with clear embossing powder and that really brought out the colours.
Tip: Since I had already cut out the squirrel, to make embossing easier, I used repositional tape and attached a strip of scrap cardstock to the back of the squirrel to use as a handle!
The card base is not quite navy, with wild wasabi on the bottom, edges sponged, and white on the top with sponged in clouds. To make the clouds I used a mask made from the scallop circle punch and copy paper, then I sponged on baja breeze.
The squirrel and the sentiment are on a Label #4 die, with more mustard sponged around the edges while still in the die.
I finished it off with some ribbon and an acorn charm charm from MFP.
Sorry I haven't been around much this week, I've been trying to get some Christmas stuff done, and Olivia was home sick for 3 days. I still have a ton of stuff to make for Christmas!!!!
Have a Great Weekend,
Laurie

RILEY2410, Metallics!

Hello, it's time for another Riley and Company challenge. I'm this weeks challenge host, and I'm challenging you to use metallics. It could be metallic paper, ribbon, glitter, embossing, embellishments, whatever you have, tis the season to be fancy!

For my card I used the new Stocking Sophie, isn't she the cutest! I coloured her with copics, see a Tutorial here, and then paper pieced her stocking with a scrap of dp.

I used a few things to meet the metallic challenge. The card base is night of navy, with a layer of cardstock that has gold glittery holly. I went around the image panel with a glue marker and dunked it in gold glitter.

The top panel is real red embossed with the seeing spots EF, edges sponged and wrapped in plaid ribbon with metallic threads in it!

I hope you can join us in our challenge. Just upload your creation to the Riley and Company Blog and if you upload to any forums, use the keyword RILEY2410.

Riley Copic Tutorial!

I've had lots of comments on how I colour Riley, so here's a quick tutorial on the colours and steps I use. I really like this look, so I tend to use the same colours and method for both Riley and Sophie. Here's a list of the copics I use.

R20
E50
E51
E53
E33
E35
E37

I've tried several different papers, and my favorite, because of the effortless blending, is Neenah Solar white, I buy this from cleardollarstamps.com, and they now have vanilla too!

So to start, I use the R20, and colour circles on Riley's cheeks and inside his ear. Then I use E50 to colour his nose, or lower part of his face, going over the R20 on his cheeks.
Next, I use the E37 and go around the antlers and hooves where I think it would be the darkest.

Then I use E35 to colour the rest of his antlers and hooves. I go over this a few times til the E35 blends with the E37.

While I have the E35 out, I also use it to any areas of his face or body where I think it would be shaded or darker.
Then I colour his face, and usually body, with E33. I try to colour in small circles so there are no lines and it blends evenly.

It's hard to see in this photo, but I use E53 and colour along the arc of his nose to blend the E33 with the E50.

And I forgot the final phot, but for the last step, I take the E51 and colour over the whole nose, over the E50 and R20!

I hope this is helpful. This is just my favorite colours, you may prefer others.

Thanks for Stopping by,
Laurie

TSMONDAY, Clean and simple!

Hello and Happy Monday! Today's Totally Stampalicious Monday Challenge is to make a CAS card, yep we're keeping it simple!

Well mine doesn't have lots of white space, but it is a simple design and less layers than I'm used to!

I used Cupcake JJ for this card. I stamped her in tuxedo black and coloured with copics. The card base is melon mambo with a layer of dp from Basic Grey Lime Rickey and the zigzag edge was made with an EK punch.

The sentiment was stamped on to the melon mambo and punched with the small oval and popped up. The image panel is popped up too! I finished it off with some taffeta ribbon!

Please join in our challenge, and upload your creation to Mr. Linky on the Totally Stampalicious Blog. Don't forget we're still on the lookout for Guest Designers and we'll be making our selections from all of the people that play in our challenges!!!

I finished it off with some ribbon and star brads!

MFP New Release Hello Sunshine!

Hello, Mark's Finest Papers just released 4 new fabulous stamp sets! I made todays card using the new set Hello Sunshine!

Make sure to join in the Blog Hop for your chance to win some awesome Blog Candy! Just leave a comment on the participating Designers Blogs. You can find a new list each day here on the Mark's Finest Papers Blog, Friday is the last day of the blog hop.

Okay so for todays card, I used Hello Sunshine, and all the stamps, papers and ribbon can be found at Mark's Finest Papers! I love this paper, I don't now if you can see in the photo, but it has a beautiful linen texture!

I coloured the cute sun face with copics and cut it out, then I layered it on inverted scallop circle nesties and sponged the edges with soft sky.

For the bottom green panel I sponged the edges with certainly celery. For the top panel that is really pale blue to start, I punched a scallop circle from regular copy paper and used it as a mask to create clouds with soft sky ink.

I applied the ribbon over black cardstock so it looked like a belt and added some gem to finish it off!

Have a great day, don't forget to check out the Blog Hop!

MFP December Release & Blog Hop Info!

Hello, it's release day at Mark's Finest Papers, and they have 4 Fabulous New sets!!! I made today's card using the new Hearts, Hearts, Hearts set!

I had trouble getting the right lighting on this one, the green is really a lot deeper, specially with the sponging. I coloured the vine and flowers with copics. The background is embossed with the Victoria EF because it reminded me of the vine.

I decided to try a new product I bought quite some time ago called glass beads. It's applied with double sided tape that looks almost like packing tape. I stuck the tape to my heart, then cut it out close to the edge, peel the top layer off that's covering the tape, and cover with the tiny tiny glass beads. It adds a bit of dimension and looks different depending on the light.

I finished it off with the beautiful satin ribbon from Mark's Finest Papers, and a hat pin with a couple matching beads!

My Cousin just got married, so I'm thinking this would make a great Wedding card for this time of year!

Now if you want a chance to win some awesome Blog Candy from Mark's Finest Papers you can find the whole Blog Hop list at Mark's Finest Papers Blog, leave a comment on the participating Designers Blogs for your chance to win. Check back each day, as there will be a new list each day from now til Friday.

The image and sentiment were stamped in black and all I had to colour in was his beak. These were cut out with circle nesties, and popped up.

Benjamin is a Hero!

Hello, I made this for the music challenge DDMCC04, Hosted by DellsDani!. This weeks song is A hero Lies In You, and will be sent to a little boy named Benjamin! His 7th Birthday is fast approaching and he has been very sick, so I'm sending Super Benjamin Moose to cheer him up!

This is really Super Riley from Riley and Company, I just masked out the crest and added a 'B'. I coloured him in with copics.

The card base is black, with a layer of so saffron and a layer of birthday dp from DCWV. I was following this weeks sketch challenge SC309, but it went a little off track!

The yellow panel was embossed with the star embossing folder. I popped up the Main image panel, and added a large star with the #7!

TSMONDAY--Late-Anything Goes!

Hello, well better late than never, I made this for the Totally Stampalicious Monday Challenge, anything goes!

I figured I'd take a break from Christmas cards, and use the New Truck Gus! I stamped him with memento tuxedo black, and coloured him and his truck with copics.

I picked the colours from the Basic Grey wander paper. The card base is not quite navy with a layer of more mustard embossed with the diamond plate EF and edges sponged.

This is also the first time I've used Mercy's Tuesday sketch MTSC102!

Everyone is welcome to join in the challenge, and it's really easy, make anything and upload it to Mr. Linky on the Totally Stampalicious Blog for your chance to win something!

RILEY2310, Christmas!

Hello, it's time for a Riley and Company Challenge! This week Frances is challenging us to think Christmas!

The latest release from Riley and Company is perfect for this, and today I'm using the new Antlers Riley! I coloured him with copics and added tiny gems to his antlers.

The card case is handsome hunter with a layer of cherry cobbler and then dp, it was a scrap so I don't remember where it's from, sorry!

I cut Riley out with circle nesties and a lacey circle nestie and popped this up. The edges of the white were sponged with Tim Holtz antique linen.

The sentiment it from the 'Things Riley Might say' set I punched it out with the word window.

I finished it off with some twine and a bell!

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun, you can leave a comment with a link to your card on the Riley and Company Blog. If you upload to forums, please use the keyword RILEY2310.

Happy Birthday Jackie!

Hello, I made this for my Sisters Birthday! Every since I saw this image called Stepsisters, from Mo Manning, I knew I wanted to make my sister a card with it. Stamping Bella has this and several other Mo Manning images in stamp form, so I made sure to pick one up when I went to a big Craft Convention in Toronto last month!

I stamped the image with memento black, the lines are so fine, what a beautiful stamped image! I coloured the girls in with copics, and added some liquid pearl to their necklaces.

I used this weeks sketch challenge CC308.

The card base is certainly celery, with a layer of white embossed with hearts. I also used pretty in pink and so saffron cardstock. All the dp is from DCWV Nana's Nursery!

Have a great Day!
Laurie

Happy Birthday Sue!

Hello, I made this for my friend Birthday! She is also my Stampin Up dealer, so I used all SU products on this one!

I was totally inspired by this card by Sandi MacIver! I know hers is a Christmas card, but wreaths can be used all year long so I figured it would also work as a Birthday card. This is a Tent Topper card, the base is 4.25 x 8.5" scored in half. Then you attach the circle so that the top over hangs the edge and it measures 5.5" total!

I used one of my favorite colour combos, because I know Sue likes it too! The card base is black, with a layer of cherry cobbler and then a layer of very vanilla. I embossed the vanilla with the square lattice embossing folder and sponged the edges with Tim Holtz antique linen (ok that's not SU!)

The black circle is 3" punch, the cherry is a circle nestie, and the vanilla is a 2.5" circle punch. The wreath branches were made with old olive & the 2 step bird punch. The little flowers were made with the bitty punch. I made the brads sparkle a little by first coating them with black embossing powder and then iridescent ice embossing! The ribbon is the black taffeta, love that stuff!

To balance it out, I added the strip on the bottom with the sentiment from Warmest Regards. The flower here is slightly bigger, I used the 3 flower punch for this one.

I hope she likes it!

Speedy's Challenge #31, Add a Bow!

Hello, I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! It's time for this weeks Speedy the Cat's Friends challenge #31, this week Vicki is challenging us to include a bow on our card or project.

Please make sure to upload your creation to the Mark's Finest Papers Blog, for your chance to win a FREE stamp set! There is one winner for every 50 entries, you can enter as often as you'd like. If you use Mark's Finest Papers stamps, your name will be entered twice!

For my card today, I used the Greetings of The Season set, I love this cardinal! I can't take credit for this card design, I was totally inspired by these cards by Becca Freeken, so I decided to try something similar!

I used the labels #8, the second largest is the card base, this way it will still fit into a regular envelope. Then I used the next size down for the black and real red. I trimmed around the embossed edge of the red piece so you can see the black.

I stamped the cardinal onto watercolour paper and picked up colour from the lids of my ink pads with a paint brush.

I finished it off with the bow and a music note charm, also from Mark's Finest Papers!

I look forward to seeing your creation!

Have a Great Day!

MOJO166, Fruitcake Stella!

Hello, This is an image I won for last weeks Catch The Bug Challenge! I got to pick 2 images from Bugaboo stamps, so I picked Fruitcake Stella as one! I think she's hilarious, but I actually like fruitcake!

I'm also using this weeks MOJO Monday sketch MOJO166. I've never played before, but always notice the great MOJO sketches in the SCS gallery and on blogs!

I coloured Stella with copics and sponged the edges with Tim Holtz antique linen.

The card base is always artichoke with a layer of cherry cobbler, all edges sponged. The bottom dp is from Basic Grey's Jovial, and the top was embossed with an EF from the preserves set.

I used circle punches for the sentiment and backing, and it's popped up. I finished it off with some always artichoke ribbon and some gold beads.

Have a Great Weekend!

Catch the Bug Challenge and Tutorial!

Hello, I made this for the Catch the Bug Challenge, Gearing up for Christmas! We have 2 Teens and one 10 year old who loves to shop with her Sister, so Gift Card Holders come in handy at Christmas time!

I used Poppixmas snowballs to make this gift card holder, I've included a picture tutorial below. Poppi is a Digi Bugaboo Image, he's one of several Christmas Penguins available! I coloured Poppi in with copics, and added some glitter to the snow. The main image is matted on real red and popped up on the garden green base. I also stamped snowflakes onto the base using a background stamp I have from Local King Rubber Stamp. The ribbon helps tie the holder closed.
Top make the gift card holder, start with a piece of cardstock 4.25" x 11" (half a sheet).

Score at 4", 5.5" & 7".

Fold the card as shown below.
Add scor tape or adhesive to the edges as shown below.

Now your cardstock should look like this!

Make an opening for your gift card. I used the word window punch and a circle punch for the center.
You can see below what it looks like with a gift card in it, unfortunately this is an empty card I used already! lol
There you have it, super easy to make and decorate, and it fits into a regular envelope!

Have a Great Day!

Totally Stampalicious SALE!

Hello, Just wanted to let you know there's a SALE going on at Totally Stampalicious! It's a Black Friday Sale, but this one is Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Both the Willameana and Snowmen Sets are on sale for $9.95 each, and that includes the Digi Sets too!

I made the card above using the Snowmen set. It was really easy to make this cute Snowman family. First I stamped the snowman onto regular copy paper twice and cut them out to use as masks. Then I stamped the smaller one in the front, cover it, stamp the Mom, and then cover her and stamp the Dad, voila!

I stamped their hats and scarves separately, coloured them and cut them out. The snowmen themselves don't need much colouring, I used BG10 around the outsides, C-1 on the snowmen, YR68, YR16 for the carrot nose and R00 for the cheeks.

The white background was made with a background stamp from Local King Rubber Stamps. First I covered it with versamark and then baja breeze, and then I embossed it with iridescent ice EP. It has a nice sparkle, but you can't see it in the photo. I added glitter around the edge of the main image too.

The sentiment is from 'Let it snow Stella'.

Happy Shopping!

CASwinter10CR, Mother's Day!

Hello, this is my entry for the second round of the CAS winter design team challenge! Sorry the photo isn't the best!

The second challenge was to make a card for a family member, I chose Mother's Day because I had this great stamp!

Both the sentiment and butterfly are from Mark's Finest Papers set called Daffodil & Anise.

I stamped the sentiment in black and the butterfly too. The butterfly is covered with Niji pearlescent watercolours, you can see the shimmer better in the second photo. The oval and the butterfly are popped up.

I scored the edges and added some yellow gems in the corners.

CAS94, Attempt #3!

Hello again, this is my card for this weeks clean & simple challenge CAS94, sponging! Well CAS does not come easy to me, so it took me 3 tries to get something I liked! I entered a card into the CAS winter design team challenge on SCS and made it though the first round, woohoo, so I have to get better at these CAS cards, they really are a challenge for me! lol

So this is my card for today, the card base is marina mist. I used the sizzix swirly die to make a mask and then sponged in craft white to make the swirls.

The snowflakes were made with the sizzix northern frost die, I fancied them up a bit by adding some glue to the tips and dipping them in glitter.

The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers set 'Ferns & Chickadees'. I punched it out with the MS tag punch.

I finished it off with some white taffeta ribbon!

Have a Great Day!

Speedy's Challenge #30, Circles!

Hello, and welcome to this weeks Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge #30! This week we are challenging you to add a circle on you card or project!

My card was really easy to make. I love the combo of the new cherry cobbler, black and the newsprint dp, so I made my own!

The card base is cherry cobbler, with a layer of black and then a layer of very vanilla. To make the background, I stamped the music sheet stamp from the Mark's Finest Papers set called 'Musical Holiday'. First I stamped it in the middle, and then on some scrap paper and cut it out to use as a mask. Then I stamped it on the sides to fill in the vanilla piece. The edges were antiqued by sponging on Tim Holtz antique linen.

I added the some MFP black satin ribbon. Then I stamped the music note in black, punched with circles and sponged the edges. The circles are all popped up for dimension.

I hope you can join us in this weeks challenge. Make sure to upload your creation to the Mark's Finest Papers Blog for your chance to win. There is a free stamp drawn for every 50 entries! If you use Mark's Finest Papers stamps, you will be entered twice. You may enter as often as you like.

Hello, it's time for a Riley and Company Challenge, this week we are challenging you to make a card or project using an outdoor theme!

And because it's Sneak Peek week, I'm showing off the new Sledding Riley! I coloured Riley with copics, and added glitter to the snow. I matted him with circle & scallop circle nesties.

The card base is 8'5"x4.25", score in half and then I attached the image so that it measures 5.5" in height!

The dp is from a K&Co. pad called peppermint twist. I finished off with some ribbon and the tree was a brad, I cut the back off and attached it with glue dots!

Please join in our challenge and leave a comment on the Riley and Company Blog with a link to your creation! If you upload to a forum please use the keywords RILEY2210.

This is a card I made for yesterdays clean & simple challenge CAS93, it's a sketch challenge by Itecler.

I used the new Snowglobe Riley! Wait till you see all the New Riley's, there's 10 and you're going to love them!

This was a really easy fast card, but I really like how it turned out! I coloured the image with copics, then added glitter and cut it out.

The card base is real red, with a layer of white embossed with the snowflake embossing folder from Crafts-too. I finished it off with a piece of felt ribbon and a snowflake brad. The Snowglobe is popped up.

Don't forget to join our Blog Hop this Thursday November 18th, there's prizes to be won, and all the new stamps will be available that night too!

Have a Great Day!
